Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo has revealed that Lebohang Mokoena is still a part of the Urban Warriors first team squad for the rest of the 2016-17 season.

The 30-year-old will be hoping to fight for a place in the Urban Warriors first team after his impressive performance for the clubs MultiChoice Diski Challenge side.

Menzo acknowledged the 30-year-old’s qualities in the aftermath of the Club’s 3-0 defeat to Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday, motivating the former Mamelodi Sundowns man to keep on working hard.

Menzo reserved special praise for the winger after impressing the coach but has insisted that Mokoena will have to fight for a place in the current Ajax first team squad.

‘I think all three games he played in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge, he played well,’ Menzo told the Ajax Cape Town website.

‘He is a player that at this moment – we know in football things can change very quick – he is not in the line-up at the moment, but he is still a PSL player, he is still part of the squad.

‘He has to fight his way into the first team, he might not be number one, two but three in his position so he has to fight for a place. But, then again, he does very well in training, he is playing well – if the other two don’t perform I won’t hesitate to bring in someone else who will give the team something extra.’

Ajax Cape Town will now travel to the Bidvest Wits Stadium when they take on Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
