Former Cape Town City midfielder Matt Sim has now joined Australian National Premier Leagues side Sydney United 58 for the 2017 season.

The 28-year-old parted ways, due to personal reasons, with Eric Tinkler’s side at the end of 2016, having assisted one goal and scored two from 14 appearances made in all competitions, while also claiming the Telkom Knockout title with the Cape side.

Sims has now revealed that he has signed a one-year contract with the Australian club after spending six months plying his trade in the Absa Premiership.

‘It’s obviously a big club with a lot of history,’ Sim told FourFourTwo.

‘In recent years Sydney United 58 FC has been a dominant force in the NPL in both NSW and the NPL National final series. I have several ex-teammates there too.’

Over the course of his career Sim has scored a total of four goals from 46 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Manly United, Sutherland Sharks, Central Coast Mariners Western Sydney Wanderers and Super Power Samut Prakan.

The midfielder now joins the Australian side Sydney United 58, who won the NPL NSW premiership last year.
