Orlando Pirates captain Thabo Matlaba believes the Buccaneers are lacking the fire power to covert their chances in the final third.

The Buccaneers will be hoping to move further up the Absa Premiership table when they welcome AmaZulu to the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Matlaba is referring to Bucs’ poor finishing which has yielded nine goals from 13 matches – the worst return of the teams in the top half of the standings.

The 29-year-old admits that his side have recently been lacking the ability to turn their created chances into goals.

‘To be honest everything is right, it is just that at the moment we are not converting our chances,’ Matlaba told KickOff.com.

‘When you look back against Polokwane City, we had a lot of chances but we didn’t convert them. Even against Golden Arrows and SuperSport United we had a lot of chances but we didn’t convert them.

‘We played well against SuperSport, in the first 10 minutes we were on top of them. But we lost a lot of balls but second half we came as a better team.’

The Soweto giants have claimed four wins from 13 games and currently occupy fourth place in the league standings level on 19 points with log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

‘We drew against SuperSport but it is water under the bridge, now we are focusing on the AmaZulu game,’ he added.

‘We will take the second-half performance as a positive to Saturday’s game against AmaZulu.’

Orlando Pirates against AmaZulu kicks off at 20:15.
