Lebogang Manayama and Samir Nurkovic have penned an emotional farewell to Kaizer Chiefs following the club’s decision to let them go.

Earlier this week, the Glamour Boys wielded the axe getting rid of eight first-team players ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, with Manyama and Nurkovic named among those heading out the door.

The Serbian striker spent three seasons with the Soweto giants scoring 17 times in 60 league appearances. While Nurkovic became a fan favourite in his first season, where Chiefs almost won the league under Ernst Middendorp, he has largely failed to recapture that form.

Manyama arrived in 2018 and scored 15 times in 98 Premiership fixtures for Chiefs but has had his time hampered by injuries.

The duo both took to social media to pen a farewell to the fans.

“As a young boy, you can only dream of putting on the shirt of your childhood club and today I stand as a man who has realised his dream,” said Manyama.

“I want to thank the chairman, Kaizer Motaung, the football manager Bobby Motaung, all the coaches, past and present, who I played under, the physios, all the team doctors, my teammates, the Khosi nation and everyone who puts in all the work behind the scenes at the Kaizer Chiefs village.

“I wish all of you all of the best and I always believe it’s never goodbyes, but see you later. Rise Khosi nation,” he concluded.

Nurkovic also took to his social media accounts to say goodbye to the club.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone at Kaizer Chiefs for everything we shared since day one, and a special thank you to the Amakhosi fans who have always supported me on and off the pitch,” the Serbian said.

“We went through ups and downs together and your support meant everything to me. THANK YOU!”
