Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha says his lack of game-time for the club serves as inspiration to do well whenever given the chance following his side’s 1-0 victory against Free State Stars.

The 22-year-old defender’s solitary strike on the stroke of half-time helped Masandawana reduce the deficit to four points behind log-leaders, Cape Town City as they succumbed Stars to a narrow victory and the former youth international paid homage to his coaches and teammates following his man-of-the-match exploits.

‘Firstly I’d like to thank my coaches for believing in me and also I’d like to thank the man upstairs for giving me this opportunity to play football,” he said after the game.

‘I wasn’t playing alone so my teammates also have the credit for this one. It’s all about teamwork, so we have to achieve together,’ he added.

Madisha also insisted that his side have a long way to go in their pursuit of retaining the Absa Premiership title.

‘It gives me the motivation to keep going, it also gives me the courage and to also push my fellow teammates to win this game. So I would like to congratulate them for gaining three points, we still have a long way to go.

‘As a youngster you always have to face challenges like this, for me it was a chance whereby I have to contribute to the team, so it is all about the teamwork because we only achieve together,’ he concluded.

Sundowns meet cross-town rivals SuperSport United in their next league encounter on Wednesday after putting Stuart Baxter’s men to the sword in a record 5-0 win just under a week ago.
