Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder stalwart Tiyani Mabunda has urged the club’s supporters to stay united during these difficult times.

A true leader in the group and a fan favourite, Tiyani continues to value this relationship built with supporters.

The Absa Premiership campaign – as with all football in South Africa – was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Brazilians were sitting second in the league standings with 44 points from 21 matches, trailing current log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs by four points with a game in hand before the 2019-20 season was halted.

However, the midfielder stalwart encourages the Brazilians faithful to work together in order to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.

‘We are in a very difficult situation all over the globe and it’s important for us to stay united,’ Mabunda told his club’s official website.

‘We have built a very strong relationship with supporters and it extends past the field of play. This means we need to love and support each other. So we needed to make sure we are helping where we can to make sure people are looked after.’

The Brazilians travelled around Tshwane with Mabunda and supporters distributing food to families in need.

‘This is just to show them we love them as our supporters and we stand with them and we are still one and united during these tough times, we are one big family!’ he added.
