Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says he regrets not claiming all three points against Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys were forced to share the spoils with Sundowns after they played out a 0-0 draw draw in their Absa Premiership encounter.

Komphela says he is not disappointed with Amakhosi’s performance against Pitso Mosimane’s side, but felt they could’ve walked away with all three points.

‘We wanted to win,’ Komphela told his club’s official website.

‘We would have loved to do that. However, it’s more one of regret than disappointment.

‘The game finished nil-nil, so the gap is still five points. Now we go our different ways to try to get the three points.’

He added: ‘There was some good energy but we, as coaches, always want a result, which we didn’t really get today.

‘Games of this magnitude are decided on small margins.’

Amakhosi dropped to fourth place in the standings with 30 points, trailing the log leaders by five points after 19 games.

‘The league is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to know how to pace yourselves.’

Kaizer Chiefs will now take on defending champions Bidvest Wits in their next league clash at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 18:00.
