Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says he takes full responsibility for the criticism from the Amakhosi supporters after their 1-0 defeat against Chippa United.

The Glamour Boys suffered their third defeat in the Absa Premiership this campaign after they were undone by the Chilli Boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday.

Amakhosi currently occupy seventh place in the PSL standings with 16 points, trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points.

‘We don’t fight back [against the criticism]. You understand the frustration — because when things don’t work, the coach is accountable naturally,’ Komphela told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘That’s leadership. In any position, when things are not working, a point of reference is the one in charge and you accept that in leadership.

‘The beauty of it is that players are still working and applying themselves, which is a good thing.’

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to end their winless run in the Absa Premiership when they take on Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm.
