The former Maritzburg United coach failed to receive the accolade once in his almost three-year tenure at the Soweto giants.

Speaking at the Absa Premiership Awards press conference, Komphela insisted that his Celtic side are in the right place to produce results while at Chiefs, he never reached the stage in the ‘project’ which would see the side become successful.

‘This team played in the Telkom Cup final last season and that tells you that the project was ready to yield a result,’ concluded the Celtic coach.
