Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has praised new signing Gustavo Paez following his impressive performance against Free State Stars on Tuesday.

The Venezuelan international recently signed for the Glamour Boys as a free agent during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old made his debut in the 59th minute when he came on to replace Edmore Chirambadare during their 3-1 victory over Free State Stars on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old coach says he feels the Venezuelan striker gave a good performance on his debut for Amakhosi and believes its just a matter of time before he finds the back of the net.

‘With Paez you can see that he’s trying his best. You can see his movements, you can see the hunger and desire and I am happy with what I saw and hope our fans are as well. With time I feel that he will come right,’ Komphela told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

Over the course of his career, Paez has scored a total of 14 goals and has assisted a further five from 74 appearances in all competitions, playing for the likes of Academia Emeritense, Zamora, NK Interblock Ljubljana, Calcio Union Quinto, RCD Mallorca B, Deportivo Lara, Deportivo La Guaira, ACR Messina, Estudiantes de Merida and Kaizer Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs will travel next to the Harry Gwala Stadium when they take on Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 20:15.
