Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has heaped praise on Keagan Buchanan following his performance against Polokwane City, despite suffering a 1-0 defeat at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Glamour Boys fell to their fifth defeat of this campaign after Thapelo Tshilo’s 75th-minute goal proved to be the difference as Rise and Shine collect all three points.

The 49-year-old reserved special praise for Buchanan, who came into the match for the suspended captain Willard Katsande.

‘Buchanan played well. He didn’t have match fitness, but he commanded himself well under the circumstances,’ Komphela told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

Meanwhile, Komphela believes that Amakhosi should’ve came out victorious against  Polokwane, but admits that a lack of composure in the final third let them down.

‘We should have killed the game in the first half. We will continue to do our best until the end of the league programme,’ he added.

‘We came here to win. We wanted to collect the three points. We looked threatening, especially in the first half, but we couldn’t finish.

The former Free State Stars coach insists that his side will be going all out in the final two matches in the Absa Premiership, as they aim to book their spot in next seasons African tournament.

‘We will go back to the training ground and do our best to win the two remaining matches.’

‘We have started to check certain pieces to give us clarity on individual players and combinations,” concluded Komphela.

Amakhosi currently sits fifth in the Absa Premiership standings with 47 points and have won 12 out of 28 matches played so far this season, trailing log leaders Bidvest Wits by 10 points.

Kaizer Chiefs will next take on Platinum Stars in their next Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday.

The match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
