Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo says he is relishing the chance to come back even stronger, despite being sidelined for up to eight weeks.

The former AmaZulu shot-stopper recently suffered an injury during Amakhosi’s 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 on March 11.

However, the 27-year-old is now recovering from his ankle injury after he underwent surgery. He could be out of action for up to eight weeks.

Khuzwayo says he will remain positive as he recovers from his injury, but insists that he is looking forward to coming back even strong.

‘Lots of people see this as a tragedy,’ Khuzwayo told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

‘However, for me, it is another experience that I have to go through. I look at it in two ways – I can be disappointed, but I choose to look forward to returning to action much stronger.

‘I will live to tell the story of positivity. I am an athlete and injuries are part of the game.’

The KwaZulu-Natal-born player has so far made a total of six appearances, while keeping four clean sheets in all competitions this season.

Kaizer Chiefs will next take on Mamelodi Sundowns when the two sides meet in what is expected to be a thrilling Absa Premiership encounter on Saturday.

The match at the FNB Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
