Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has urged all South Africans to work as a team in the battle to beat the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

All football in the country has been suspended due to the ongoing Covid-19 threat as South Africa entered a 21-day nationwide lockdown on 26 April at the instructions of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Bafana Bafana shotstopper is adhering to the guidelines laid out by the World Health Organisation in the bid to combat the virus, and has since sent a message encouraging all South Africans to obey these lockdown guidelines by staying at home.

‘I want to give you guys some advice – stay at home, stay fit, stay healthy and make sure we fight this coronavirus together,’ Khune told Cosafa’s official website.

‘If we join hands we can defeat it, but alone we cannot defeat it. So let’s work as a team, let’s help our government, because they are trying everything they can do.

‘It starts with you, if you can stay home and make sure you keep everyone home, we will definitely defeat this coronavirus. I believe in you guys, let’s do this.’
