AmaZulu have confirmed the return of former striker Mabhuti Khenyeza as a second assistant to head coach Cavin Johnson following his departure from the club a month ago.

The 36-year-old announced his retirement in January this year before taking up a coaching role at KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United under then coach Muhsin Ertugral.

However, his stint at the Team of Choice only lasted three weeks before he quit Ertugral’s technical team following a string of poor results that saw them losing 5 consecutive matches.

The Absa Premiership’s all-time leading scorer has since returned to his former club to work as second assistant to head coach Cavin Johnson and Alan Clark.

Speaking on his appointment, Khenyeza said: ‘I am happy to be back. I must thank the club’s management for trusting me.’

‘I know that I will grow under coach Cavin and Alan. I enjoyed working with them as a player, now I am looking forward to learning from them as a coach.’
