Australian midfielder James Brown has left PSL franchise Cape Town City with immediate effect.

Speculation of Brown’s departure intensified on Tuesday with rumours that Brown had failed to settle in South Africa.

‘We can confirm that James Brown has been released from Cape Town City FC. We wish James Brown all of the best with his future.’ tweeted the club on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old midfielder arrived in the country on a two-year deal with the club’s ambitious owner hailing his arrival at the time.

‘Brown is another addition of an extremely attacking player, who offers plenty of versatility and creativity. He had the privilege of playing for Melbourne City, so his experience and his speed will be a big asset for the team.’ said Brown.

Brown featured just three times for City and accumulated just 146 minutes of game time in both the league and club competition.
