SuperSport United midfielder Dean Furman says his side will be hoping for a successful performance against Maritzburg United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Matsatsantsa recently claimed a 2-1 victory over Madagascar side’s Elgeco Plus in the Caf Confederations Cup over the weekend.

Stuart Baxter’s side are currently placed fifth in the Absa Premiership standings with 29 points, having won seven out of 16 matches played so far this season.

The 29-year-old admits that the Team of Choice will be a tough side to face as they look to walk away with maximum points when the two sides clash on Wednesday.

‘Maritzburg are a tough side with some very good players,’ Furman told the SuperSport United website.

‘I’m sure they will be aiming for a win, however we have had some success against them in the last two seasons and will be looking for much of the same again.’

The former Bafana Bafana captain believes his side’s dominant performance against Elgeco Plus in the Caf Confederation Cup could give them the confidence they need to beat the Team of Choice.

‘The win over Elgeco Plus was more comfortable than the score line suggested. We were in control of the game for long periods and created numerous chances to put the game to bed,’ he added.

‘We were unable to finish these chances and this gave the opposition a chance at the end. We must be more clinical in the future and finish teams off when we have the opportunity.’

SuperSport United will now welcome Maritzburg United to the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
