Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has confirmed that defender Siyanda Xulu will be the club’s captain for the 2018-19 season.

The Team of Choice captain Bevan Fransman has parted ways with the club after failing to agree to a new contract.

Kadodia hinted that the KwaMashu-born defender will captain the Team of Choice next season following his impressive performance during the 2017-18 campaign.

‘He was vice-captain to Bevan and he should be captain next season. He did very well after we gave him the platform to resurrect his career. He is a good player and we are looking forward to more from him,’ Kadodia said.

Meanwhile, the club’s chairman confirmed that Cameroonian midfielder Yazid Atouba will be added to the transfer list while confirming talks with SuperSport United midfielder Fagrie Lakay.

‘We have decided to transfer list Atouba. He is not in the coach’s plan for the next season. We’ve also decided against exercising the option on Devon Salie’s contract,’ he added.

‘We won’t put pressure on Lakay to make his decision. We will give him time.’
