Polokwane City head coach Luc Eymael says he expects a tightly contested Absa Premiership encounter against Ajax Cape Town at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Rise and Shine are currently placed sixth in the Absa Premiership standings with 23 points, having won only five out of 17 matches played so far this season.

The 57-year-old coach believes the Urban Warriors will be out to redeem themselves, following successive defeats to Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City.

‘We have to be careful, as they will try to bounce back after losing two games. Ajax are a good technical team with skillful players,’ Eymael said.

‘I think it will be an open game, let’s wait and see, but we are at home and we have to try our best to get three points.

‘They will try and bounce back, do their maximum to bounce back. Stanley is a big competitor, but yes we have to try and collect all three points against tough opposition.’

The Belgium-born coach has urged his side to build on their recent performances against Maritzburg United and Highlands Park after picking up two points out of a possible six, in recent weeks.

‘We have to improve, after one-and-a-half months not playing competitive games, we didn’t play our best football against Maritzburg or Highlands,’ He added.

‘Two out of six points this year, we have to build on that and try and win more games, at home especially.’

Polokwane City will take on Ajax Cape Town next in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

The match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 15:30.
