Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper coach Jyri Nieminen has been appointed as their new goalkeeper coach of Dutch giants Feyenoord.

The 35-year-old joined the Buccaneers and came in to replace Andrew Sparks as the goalkeeping coach before the start of the 2019-20 season.

After parting ways with pirates in December 2020, Nieminen joined Major Soccer League side New York Red Bulls where he spent two years before joining Feyenoord.

The Finland-born coach was appointed as the new goalkeeper coach of Feyenoord after the departure of Khalid Benlahsen.

“The care with which Feyenoord approached me gives me a very good feeling,” Nieminen told his club’s official website.

“It fills me with pride that I am now part of this great club. I look forward to working with a team of good keepers who also have enormous potential.”
