Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp has urged his team to “step up” when they take on the University of Pretoria in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 on Wednesday.

The Urban Warriors will look to continue their current momentum when they travel to TUKS Stadium for their Nedbank Cup opener.

Spurs will encounter that fixture high in confidence after claiming a 3-1 victory over AmaZulu at Athlone Stadium in the DStv Premiership this past weekend.

Middendorp is confident his side can step up their performance but has urged his entire team to “step up” their game.

“I said it at the beginning that we are chasing something impossible. That’s the reality,” Middendorp told his club’s official website.

“Chasing is allowed and it is what we are doing. But there is no light at the end of the tunnel, not yet.

“We need these guys, there’s no doubt about it, but everybody needs to step up and do the right stuff.”
