AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin has expressed his thoughts on how his side performed over the course of the 2023–24 season.

Usuthu missed out on a top-eight spot in the DStv Premiership after finishing in 11th place on the log with 36 points, having won eight, drew 12 and conceded 10 defeats this past season.

The Durban-based outfit also made it to the semi-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup as well as the quarter-final of the Nedbank Cup.

The AmaZulu mentor admits that his campaign did not go as planned, stating that the Africa Cup of Nations played a role in their form this past season.

“In the second part of the season after the AFCON, like most of the teams here, that break hurt us when we were in our element. From there it was difficult to go back to that level,” Martin told his club’s official website.

“We started performing in the Nedbank Cup and we achieved quarter-finals. I think we played really well against Pirates at home.”
