Stellenbosch FC captain Lee Langeveldt has penned an open letter to the club and supporters following a highly successful 2023-24 season.

The Maroons won their first piece of silverware in the top-flight after they beat TS Galaxy 5-4 on penalties to lift the inaugural Carling Knockout Cup in December last year.

Stellies followed that up with a third place finish in the DStv Premiership, which saw them secure a place in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup and a spot in the MTN8 next season.

the club captain has since showed his gratitude in an open letter to the club and its supporters, which reads as follows:

Dear Stellenbosch FC

As the season comes to an end, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude and pride. It is with immense joy and happiness that I extend my sincerest thanks to each and every one of you for contributing to the remarkable success we have achieved together.

To the players, coaches, and staff, your dedication, perseverance, and tireless efforts have been core to our achievements. From cold early morning training sessions to travels around the country, you have consistently shown the utmost professionalism and passion for the badge.

Your commitment to excellence has inspired us all to bring glory to our beloved club, and I must make a special mention to Mr. Rob Benadie, Mr. Garth Le Roux, and Miss Ghouwa Manuel for your hard work behind the scenes, we appreciate you.

To our loyal supporters, you are the life and heartbeat of Stellenbosch Football Club. Thank you for your continuous support. During good times and bad, the Maroon Army never disappoints.

Your singing and chanting gives us extra motivation during matches, and I would like to particularly thank those who made the trip to Durban for our Carling Knockout final – our success would have been incomplete without you there.

This season has been a testament to our core values… Resilience, the will to win, positivity, team spirit, hard work, and accountability. The love and respect we have for each other and the strong team culture within camp made this group extra special.

As we reflect on the memories we created and all our achievements over the season, let us cherish these moments and use them as motivation to take on Africa next season.

Our journey as a team is far from over and with the same passion and determination, we can conquer the continent. I have no doubt that we can achieve greatness together.

Once again, I would like to thank you for your support, dedication and passion. Together we have made history in South African football and soon in Africa. The memories of this season will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

With love and respect
Stellies of niks

Lee Langeveldt
