Marumo Gallants have confirmed that striker Ranga Chivaviro has parted ways with the club to join Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the new season.

The 30-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Chiefs following a successful season with Bahlabane ba Nthwa.

Last season,

Chivaviro managed to find the back of the net 17 times in 30 appearances across all competition for Gallants last season.

His performance for Bahlabane ba Nthwa helped them reach the semi-finals of the Caf Confederations Cup despite their relegation from the DStv Premiership to the Motsepe Foundation Champions.

Gallants released the following statement on the matter which reads:

“Today marks the end of an exciting and eventful football season. Marumo Gallants Football Club has celebrated fantastic successes as well as some very disappointing losses along the way.

“As the football season draws to a close, Gallants would like to take the opportunity to thank the players, technical team, supporters, sponsors, the media and partners who have rallied behind Bahlabane ba Ntwa.

“With seasonal contracts officially coming to an end today [30 June], outgoing players have received clearances to join other teams.

“Gallants confirms the departures of, among others, Ranga Chivaviro [Kaizer Chiefs F.C.], Katlego Otladisa [Orlando Pirates F.C.], Ismael Toure [Stellenbosch F.C.] and Lesiba Nku [Mamelodi Sundowns F.C.].

“Technical team contracts have also come to an end. Negotiations will continue with players and technical team members who may be retained for the upcoming season, as well as those with existing contracts extending into the 2023/2024 season.”

Meanwhile, the club’s chairman Abram Sello wished all the players and technical staff leaving the club well for the future.

“We thank you for your commitment and service throughout the season,” he added.

“Despite a disappointing end to the PSL season, Gallants remain optimistic about the future. Regardless of the league we compete in, we retain our passion for football and our drive to win.

“Our fans have supported us through the ups and downs experienced, and we would like to thank all our supporters for their loyalty and belief that Bahlabane ba ntwa will rise again.”
