Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa has played down suggestions he will line up his side with two strikers in their upcoming PSL fixtures.

Ajax are blessed with two high-class players in the position as they boast both Nathan Paulse and Bafana Bafana star Prince Nxumalo, with the latter having top scored for the side with 13 strikes last season while the former having netted six.

Paulse was preferred by De Sa in the side’s 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates las week, while his decision to throw on Nxumalo did not pay dividends. It is a decision the coach has since admitted was a mistake.

‘They are both very similar strikers that are very used to playing on their own, and to be honest with you, every time we’ve played them both, it’s been a bit of a disaster,’ De Sa said, reports KickOff.

‘We need something different, and have tried that at training and in matches, but there’s never been a game that we’ve played them together that we’ve come away with anything.’

De Sa admitted he might have been better off throwing on a wing or a playmaker instead of going for a twin strikers against the Buccaneers, while he also added his selection headache had been eased due to the Nxumalo’s injury struggles.

‘It’s been a bit of a headache, of who I should start,’ he explained. ‘Prince is coming back from an injury so he hasn’t been at his best, unfortunately. But Nathan has two goals in two games, so it’s not that bad.’

Ajax in action on Tuesday when they host Polokwane City in a Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium.

The match gets underway at 19:30.
