Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids was pleased to walk away with maximum points following their 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers extended their unbeaten run to three games following their victory over the Rockets through goals in each half from Bandile Shandu and Collins Makgaka.

The Sea Robbers have now moved up to second place in the DStv Premiership standings with 23 points from 15 games, while the Rockets remain in 13th place with 12 points after 15 matches.

“Good start, in relation to both teams, the difference was we could score, get that early goal. Yes, they are a team that is very direct, one of the few teams playing with two strikers,” Davids told SuperSport TV after the match.

“Balls coming into the sides, the second balls we had to manage. But we couldn’t get sucked into playing their style, we had to slow down the game. I think we did that well in the first half.

“It was very important that we score the second goal, very important that we don’t get sucked into their style of play, of transition, transition.

“The second-half was about slowing the game down, putting the foot on the ball, dominating possession and the second goal came.”

He added: “Ja it’s not really Ndah and Nyauza, it’s really the team’s structure in terms of the high press, in terms of how we put pressure high on the pitch, we’re getting so many turnovers in those positions, not really capitalising on it enough but it’s a work in progress, I’m really pleased with the three points.

“We had six games in 16 days, before this game it was five games in 13 and it comes with the recovery matchday plus one and the next day is recovery minus one and we go again,” he added.
