Cape Town City came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw with Golden Arrows in their Absa Premiership clash at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

The Citizens got off to a good start and saw more possession of the ball in the opening exchanges of the match, but failed to capitalise.

Meanwhile, the home side were comfortable enough to sit back and attack from the counter.

Arrows then took the lead in the 38th minute when Siphelele Magubane found the back of the net with his sublime free kick to make it 1-0.

Abafana Bes’thende proved to be the more threatening side in the first half as they went into the half-time interval with a one-goal lead over the visiting side.

The Citizens should’ve equalised five minutes into the second half, but Mpho Matsi was unable to find the net with his header.

Jabulani Shongwe then doubled his side’s lead after 68 minutes when he steered the ball past City keeper Sage Stephens to make it 2-0.

The visiting side eventually pulled a goal back in the 80th minute after winger Ayanda Patosi found the net with his strike, 2-1.

City then levelled matters in the 88th minute when Thabo Nodada’s effort deflected flew into the back of the net with two minutes remaining in the match.

However, neither side could find the winning goal in the closing stages of the match. The scoreline remained 2-2 until the final as both sides shared the spoils at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
