Platinum Stars and Jomo Cosmos played out to a 0-0 draw in their promotional playoff encounter at the Moruleng Stadium on Wednesday evening, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

Dikwena came out with intent in the early stages of the game and were dominating possession inside the Cosmos half, but failed to create any chances in the final third.

Letsie Koapeng should’ve handed Stars the lead when he was set up by Bongi Ntuli, but the striker failed to hit the target with his effort.

Kagiso Ndlovu came to Cosmos’ rescue after the shot-stopper made a fine save to deny Ntuli’s effort at goal.

Dikwena wing Riyaad Norodien had a great chance to break the deadlock but fired his effort just over the crossbar.

Both sides had their fair share of opportunities throughout the first half but were unable to break the deadlock as the game went into the break with the scoreline locked at 0-0.

The second half got off to a relatively slow start with both sides trying to get on the front foot.

Ntuli thought he should’ve been awarded a penalty after he was brought down in the area by Thato Lingwati, but the referee waved play on.

Tebogo Tlolane came close to handing the visitors the lead when he fired a dangerous free kick towards goal, but his effort sailed over the target.

Neither had been able to break the deadlock after 80 minutes of play.

Luvolwethu Mpeta found himself in a good position inside the penalty area, but he was unable to free himself up for a shoot by opting to pass the ball instead.

Both sides pressed forward in search of the winning goal in the closing stages of the game, but neither side were able to find the net as the match ended goalless at the Moruleng Stadium.
