Kaizer Chiefs have moved to secure a new deal with influential midfielder George Maluleka as the player enters the final months of his contract at Naturena.

Maluleka, a fan favourite, has become key to Steve Komphela’s plans with the club now moving to cement his place in the lineup, reports SoccerLaduma.

The Tembisa-born playmaker began his career in 2006 with AmaTuks before spending time at SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town before joining Chiefs in January 2014 on an initial three-and-half year deal which is set to expire in June. He made his Chiefs debut on 23 January 2014 in a 1–0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld.

Now 27, Maluleka has cemented his place as a Chiefs regular and has started 12 of 13 games for the club in the PSL this season.

‘Mido’ made his debut for Bafana Bafana on 12 November 2011 in a 1–1 draw against Ivory Coast.
