Kaizer Chiefs has officially confirmed the appointment of Lee Baxter as the club’s new goalkeeper coach.
The former SuperSport United goalkeeper coach takes over the post which was previously held by Brazilian Alex Revoredo, who passed away in August last year after a short illness.
Baxter has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal which runs until the end of the 2019-20 season.
The son of current Bafana Bafana coach Stuart, will be working closely with the first team as well as the development structures.
‘We welcome Lee into our Kaizer Chiefs family. Coaching goalkeepers is a very specialised field. Lee is young, ambitious and he will bring a lot of international experience,’ Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung on his club’s website.
‘Roping Lee in is part of the bigger picture of developing goalkeepers for the future. We are looking forward to this partnership which will take our youth development structures to greater heights.’
Former Amakhosi shot-stopper Brian Baloyi, who has been in charge of the goalkeepers since Revoredo’s passing, will now return to his coaching duties, along with Rory Minnaar, while 41-year-old Baxter heads the department.
