The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that they have written to Benni McCarthy, Steve Komphela and Owen Da Gama after the trio made comments in the media regarding match officials.

Earlier in the week it was confirmed that the league had written to Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane in relation to comments attributed to him about match officials, when he was given five days to respond.

Seemingly ramping up its disciplinary actions, the league then wrote to Zlatko Krmpotic at Polokwane City over the same issue, before confirming on Friday that McCarthy, Komphela and Da were also in the firing line.

The standard of refereeing in the PSL has been questioned by coaches, fans and media alike in recent weeks.

Mosimane and McCarthy were vocal on calls going the way of Kaizer Chiefs in recent matches, while Da Gama was left furious after his team conceded a clear offsides goal against Orlando Pirates to suffer a 1-0 loss.

The coaches have been visibly angered by the standard of the refereeing, but their comments have been seen as bringing the league into to disrupt by the PSL.

There is more to follow in this developing story as all the coaches are yet to respond.
