Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy has admitted that he is anticipating a tough game against Kaizer Chiefs when the two sides clash on Wednesday.

The former Bafana Bafana star is yet to beat the Glamour Boys as a coach, losing 4-1, 1-0 and 2-0 to Amakhosi since McCarthy has joined the club.

Benni will have a chance to change that record when his charges face Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday evening, but the young coach has admitted that it won’t be easy as Chiefs have improved under new manager Ernst Middendorp.

‘Chiefs is another story, it is a team that I haven’t beaten as a coach yet, three attempts and three losses, it’s not going to be easy, but as confident as I am in my team, I’m sure since the arrival of (Ernst) Middendorp they have become more organised,’ Benni told SoccerLaduma.

‘They are more solid and disciplined, they are a decent unit, so it is not going to be an easy game, but for me my main priority now is getting my players recovered and see where the niggles are, and I am delighted to have Surprise (Ralani) back from a long lay-off.

‘Kermit (Erasmus) is back as well, Dove has come back and then I have (Ebrahim) Seedat coming back from suspension. We are missing (Taariq) Fielies, but it’s okay, we manage,’ he concluded.
