Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Shaun Bartlett has called on the Glamour Boys to remain consistent, adding that nobody wins the league as early as November.

Chiefs have started the season in fine form with Ernst Middendorp’s charges opening up a 10-point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns after winning nine of their 11 fixtures so far.

With no continental football, unlike Sundowns and Bidvest Wits who form the chasing pack so far, Amakhosi have started to become the favourites to win the league come season’s end.

Bartlett, however, does not want his team to get carried away because it’s still early days in the title race.

‘Anything is possible but like I said, it’s still early days, we’ve only played 11 games so far,’ said Bartlett, according to IOL.

‘Nobody is given a league title in November or December. We’ve got to be consistent and continue doing what we’ve been doing for the last four months.

‘I think that is key. There’s six, seven months to go this season and we’ve got to make sure that we stay consistent.’

The Soweto giants are next in action in the Telkom Knockout Cup semi-finals this weekend when they face Maritzburg United on Sunday, with kick off at 3pm.
