Golden Arrows have insisted that they are preparing to host Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday night, expecting the game to go ahead despite Chiefs’ no show this past Saturday against Cape Town City.

In what can only be described as a messy and embarrassing situation for the league, Chiefs’ visit to the Princess Magogo Stadium is still up in the air.

Chiefs wrote to the league last Friday seeking postponements of their next four games after a massive Covid-19 outbreak at Naturena.

However, the league did not respond, leading to unfortunate scenes unfolding on Saturday as Cape Town City arrived for a game against Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium, only to find their opposition not there and the stadium locked, as Chiefs said would happen.

Now, four days later, the Glamour Boys are approaching yet another game and the league has still not commented on the matter.

Arrows, though, are taking no chances with the points and said they will be ready and waiting whether the Soweto giants arrive or not.

“With Chiefs experiencing a high Covid-19 outbreak of late, they were unable to honour their weekend fixture against Cape Town FC. We are however expecting the game to proceed as planned and are well prepared for the midweek clash,” the club said in a statement on Tuesday.
