The first ever edition of the Cape Derby between Cape Town City and Ajax Cape Town is set to take place in the Mother City on Friday evening.

Both sides will be looking for no less than three points from the encounter having each been held to draws in midweek, with City impressing in a stalemate with Orlando Pirates while Ajax were held by Polokwane City.

Eric Tinkler will have his full squad available for selection in the tie as he has neither any injuries nor suspensions with which to contend, while Ajax too have a clean bill of health, but will have to make do without Roscoe Pietersen following his red card last game.

The matchup will intriguingly see City owner John Comitis face the side he was formally a shareholder of, while the likes of City star Lebogang Manyama is a former player of the Ajax setup.

Indeed, Tinkler will be counting on the Manyama to give his side an edge in the tie, while the former Orlando Pirates boss will be hoping
attacker Aubrey Ngoma can maintain his good form in front of goal.

Ajax boss Roger de Sa has a decision to make as he deliberates whether or not to trust veteran striker Nathan Paulse with the goalscoring responsibilities or opts for the club’s top marksman last season, Prince Nxumalo, who recently returned from injury.

The action will be live from Cape Town Stadium at 20:00.
