Ajax Cape Town have officially confirmed that their scheduled Absa Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs will go ahead as planned this coming Saturday.

The Urban Warriors revealed on Wednesday that their Absa Premiership fixture could be postponed due to security concerns at the venue.

However, following a third priority meeting on Wednesday morning, it was decided that the match will indeed take place at Athlone Stadium on Saturday evening.

Their respective Absa Premiership match between the two sides are set to kick-off set for 20:15.

Stanley Menzo’s side opted to play their match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, with the Cape Town Stadium unavailable, but could not get the stadium due to their booking expiring, forcing them to use the Athlone Stadium for their PSL encounter.

In 30 previous meetings between Ajax and Chiefs, Amakhosi have come out the better side, claiming 14 victories while the Urban Warriors only managed six, with 10 matches ending in stalemates in all competition.

Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys currently sits second in the Absa Premiership standings with 33 points and have won nine of their 18 matches played so far this season.

While the Urban Warriors currently occupy 11th place with 19 points, having won just five out of 18 matches played in the Absa Premiership.

Ajax Cape Town against Kaizer Chiefs kicks off at 20:15.
