Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns were kept apart in the draw for the round of 16 in the Nedbank Cup on Monday night, with the Brazilians handed a favourable draw against third-tier opposition.

The first round of the cup competition, with the DStv Premiership entering the competition, proved entertaining with several top-flight sides sent packing by lower league opposition in the past two weeks.

Golden Arrows and AmaZulu were both beaten by GladAfrica Championship sides University of Pretoria and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, who edged AmaZulu in the last round and will be targeting the cup as their best possible piece of silverware this season, were drawn against holders Marumo Gallants while the all-conquering Mamelodi Sundowns will host third-tier side Mathaithai FC.

The Premier Soccer League will confirm the dates and times for the fixtures in due course.
