Kaizer Chiefs forward Mduduzi Shabalala has made a promise to the club’s supporters that they will continue to fight for the badge after booking their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals.

The Glamour Boys book their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament following their 2-1 victory over Casric Stars at the FNB Stadium on Sunday evening.

An 11th minute penalty converted by Bonfils Bimenyimana opened the scoring for Amakhosi before Kgomotso Mosadi levelled the game in the 62nd minute but Chiefs fought back to secure the win through a 63rd minute goal by striker Ashley Du Preez.

Shabalala admits that facing Stars was no easy task but was delight to see his side find the back of the net and secure a positive result in the process.

“We knew it was not going to be an easy one but the important thing is that we got the early goal which set up a good momentum for us, even though we missed so many chances,” Shabalala told SuperSport TV.

“It is something that we have been lacking throughout the season, but the good thing is that we are getting there, and we are creating goal-scoring opportunities.

“Obviously, we are trying our level best to bring back the club where it belongs, and we are doing well so far.

“It is just that we must keep on working hard and keep on getting those three points. We will get it right. We promise that we will fight until the last minute and thank you for your support.”
