Polokwane City booked their place in the next round of the Nedbank Cup, after cruising to a comfortable 3-1 victory over African All Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

Rise and Shine got off to a bright start and broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when Vusimuzi Mngomezulu set up Puleng Tlolane, before his effort found the back of the net.

All Stars goalkeeper Tebogo Dhlamini came to his side’s rescue after making a couple of notable saves in the remainder of the first 45 minutes to keep his side in the contest up to half-time.

The first chance of the second half went the way of the lower league side in the 54th minute, with Bheki Shabangu getting on the end of a good cross from the right flank, only to send his effort wide of the near post.

All Stars came close to levelling matters in the 70th minute, when substitute Sthembiso Hlophe’s superb shot hit the underside of the crossbar.

However, Rise and Shine doubled their lead in the 72nd minute when Saulani Phiri unleashed a long-range strike at goal before finding the back of the net with All Stars shot-stopper well beaten.

The home side’s all but sealed the victory in the 86th minute when substitute Walter Musona rounded goalkeeper Dhlamini and tapped the ball into the net to make it 3-0.

Meanwhile, All Stars went on to claim a consolation goal in the final minute of stoppage-time when Mohau Motaung scored from the penalty spot.

Rise and Shine have now booked their place in the round of 16 of the competition with the draw set to take place in due time.
