Kaizer Chiefs striker Gustavo Paez says he hopes to score more goals for the club after netting his first goal against Stellenbosch at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys are into the Last 16 stage of the Nedbank Cup, after defeating the National First Division side 3-0 through goals by Joseph Molangoane, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Gustavo Paez.

The Venezuelan striker says he was more than delighted to have scored his first goal for Amakhosi, but he insists that he will be working hard to add to his goal tally for the season.

‘I am happy to score my first goal, we had to fight to win this match, and I am happy for my progress in the team and mostly for the team to win,’ Paez told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

‘I hope this will be the start of more goals to come.’

The 26-year-old went on to say that his side are happy with the win, but will be hoping to go all the way to the finals in the hopes of lifting the trophy this season.

‘We want to win this cup and that’s what made us fight tonight,’ he added.

‘The wind made it difficult to control the ball, but we are happy we won and are in the next stage.’

Meanwhile, Lucky Baloyi says he was more than delighted to have contributed to the team’s success after putting in a Man of the Match performance.

‘I am just happy to have been given the opportunity by the technical team to play and contribute towards the team’s success. The award is great and I have to thank my teammates for helping me achieve this feat,’ Baloyi said.

Kaizer Chiefs will now turn their attention back to the Absa Premiership when they take on Baroka on Saturday.

The match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
