Bidvest Wits defender Buhle Mkwanazi says his side are focused on progressing to the next round of the Nedbank Cup ahead of their Last 32 clash against Cape Town All Stars.

The last 32 draw produced only two clashes involving Absa Premiership teams, Free State Stars were drawn against Highlands Park while Golden Arrows take on Maritzburg United in the KZN derby.

The 27-year-old says his side’s main focus in the Nedbank Cup is to overcome Cape Town All Stars to advance to the next round of the competition.

‘It’s a tricky draw because we don’t know anything about the team, but we are determined and taking the game seriously. Our focus is to play a great game and try to advance to the next stage,’ Mkwanazi told the Bidvest Wits website

‘Nedbank Cup games are like a one-day international – it’s either you win it or you’re out. We need to use the ABSA Premiership Cup games as an opportunity to gain momentum before the Cup and really play the best football we can.’

Bidvest Wits will next welcome Ajax Cape Town to the Bidvest Wits Stadium when the two side’s meet in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
