Ernst Middendorp believes Royal Eagles are capable of winning as every team lift their game when they play Kaizer Chiefs.

The Glamour Boys are set to welcome the GladAfrica Championship outfit to the FNB Stadium when the two sides square off in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 on Saturday.

The German mentor has faced teams from outside the top flight as Chiefs coach in the Nedbank Cup on four occasions, winning three out of four games, while also leading Amakhosi to two Nedbank Cup finals during the 2005-06 and 2018-19 season.

Middendorp is aware of the threat Eagles possess and will not underestimate the GladAfrica Championship outfit as they have experience in the squad, including former Bloemfontein Celtic and Free Stars midfielder Mpho Maruping as well as Tshepo Tema, who previously played for Polokwane City and Ea Lla Koto.

‘We have observed them, and they have a number of players with PSL or top-tier experience,’ Middendorp told his club’s official website.

‘They are a team with players capable of winning games and we are well aware of that,’ he added. ‘We know that whoever we face, they lift their game when they play against us.

‘We will be ready. We have been working well at training this week. It’s good we are at home, and this will hopefully be key to our progression.’

The match at the FNB Stadium kicks off at 6pm.
