Hendrick Ekstein is relishing the chance to aid Kaizer Chiefs in their fight to claim the Nedbank Cup trophy this season.

The Glamour Boys will take on the Safa second-division outfit Magic FC in the next round of the competition, following the Last 16 draw at the MultiChoice studios in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Thursday evening.

Amakhosi advances to the round of 16 after claiming a hard-fought 1-0 victory over ABC Motsepe League side Tornado.

Meanwhile, Magic advanced to the Last 16 after beating National First Division (NFD side Maccabi on penalties.

Ekstein, who was present at the draw, says he welcomes the challenge from their next opponents, while insisting that they will treat them with the same respect as any other club, while also stating that this competition gives him a chance to help his side end their trophy drought by lifting the prize.

‘You can’t decide in a draw who you want to play,’ Ekstein told the media.

‘However, we welcome the outcome. We will prepare accordingly to try and advance to the quarter-finals.

‘I wish to assist the team to win a trophy. We will respect every opponent we meet along the way, and Magic will not be treated any differently. We look forward to the match,’ he concluded.

Amakhosi will travel to Cape Town on the weekend of 16 to 19 February. The PSL will announce the details of the logistics in due course.
