Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says he expects a ‘well-organised and disciplined’ SuperSport United side when the two sides lock horns in the MTN8 final on Saturday, writes Dylan Appolis.

Matsatsantsa will be out for revenge against the Citizens after the Cape side beat them 2-1 in the final to claim the 2016-17 edition of the Telkom Knockout Cup.

McCarthy admits that his side don’t look nervous ahead of the final, but insists that they are looking forward to claiming their second piece of silverware within two years of the club’s existence.

‘We try not to think about the final and I think we’ve prepared okay. The guys don’t seem to be nervous about it, which will help on Saturday,’ McCarthy said.

‘Its a game of football, final or no final, in the end you just want to continue what you do and that’s to play well, work as hard as you can and not make it easy for the opposition.

‘Hopefully we can continue the good run that we’re on, and if we win it’s even better.’

The City mentor says his side have to remain focused and positive, as he expects a well-organised and disciplined SuperSport side on the day.

‘They [SuperSport] are very disciplined and very organised, because that’s what Erick [Tinkler] installed in them, his organisation is very good,’ he added.

‘Its going to be very difficult because they are organised, but I think we’ve played teams that are as organised and maybe a little bit better, so I think we can deal with them.

‘We can take a lot from the Wits games because these are two teams that are similarly equipped in strength and depth in the sides. If we are as focused as we were against Wits, then we should be okay, but it’s going to be an entertaining and interesting final.’

Kick-off has been set for 19:00.
