Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says he is looking forward to tussling with ‘the best coach in the league’ Pitso Mosimane, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

The Citizens will take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final second leg – heading into the clash with a one-goal advantage over their opponents after Taariq Fielies scored the only goal in the first leg at Cape Town Stadium last Saturday.

In midweek Absa Premiership action, the Citizens were forced to share the spoils with Free State Stars after playing out to a 2-2 draw at Goble Park on Wednesday.

McCarthy was left frustrated by his side’s inability to convert their chances but insists he is looking forward to taking on the Brazilians for a place in the final of the top-eight competition.

‘I’m happy with the point that we got, something to build on. Now I can look forward to playing the second leg of the semi-final against a team that plays beautiful football,’ McCarthy said.

‘A team that has set standards in our league and a team that you will not lose your players to injuries because of the type of football they play.

‘I’m looking forward to Sunday playing Pitso, that’s why he is the best coach in our league – because he sets up his team to play.’

Cape Town City will now travel to the Lucas Moripe Stadium when they take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final second leg on Sunday with kick off set for 3pm.
