Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the fourth time in a row after helping PSG win a record 11th French title.

The France star has scored 28 goals in the league this season and is on track to be the top scorer in the division for the fifth straight year.

“It’s a pleasure, I always wanted to win, to write my name into the league’s history. But even with all the ambition I have I didn’t expect to win so quickly,” said Mbappe on receiving his award.

Mbappe, who has scored 40 goals this season, turned down Real Madrid at the end of last season and signed a new three-year deal with PSG instead.

Reports say that the 24-year-old player’s contract will end next year unless he chooses to stay until 2025.

Asked about his future at the awards ceremony, Mbappe replied: “I will be here again next season.”

He is the first person to win a prize four times. This is more than Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who won the prize three times with PSG.

Coach of the Season went to Lens’s Franck Haise, who led the team to second place and back into the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

The custodian for Lens, Brice Samba, was also given an award. The best young player award went to the left back for Paris Saint-Germain, Nuno Mendes.

He was in the team of the season along with Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Achraf Hakimi, all of whom play for PSG.
