Fluminense captain Thiago Silva has praised ‘special’ Joao Pedro after his heroics for Chelsea in the semi-final of the Club World Cup.

The 23-year-old netted a double to help the Blues claim a 2-0 win over Fluminense and secure their place in the final.

Following his stellar performance against the Brazilian outfit, Pedro was awarded the Michelob Ultra Superior Player of the Match award.

The former Chelsea captain has praise the talented Pedro, having previously witness his greatness during his time at Wolves.

“This kid is special. I have a lot of affection for him,” Silva said.

“I faced him twice at Chelsea, while he was still at Watford, and he played two great games against us.

“I didn’t expect him to have such an inspired afternoon. He scored two great goals. I can lift my head, wishing Joao Pedro good luck.”
