Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo says his side are highly confident heading into their Club World Cup Group D encounter against Flamengo on Friday evening.
The Blues will look to continue their winning ways after claiming a 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
Enzo Maresca’s side currently sits in second place in Group D, level on three points with log leaders Flamengo.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for Chelsea this campaign, having won Chelsea’s Player of the Season award and Players Player of the Season award.
The Ecuadorian scored two goals and assisted a further five in 46 appearances across all competitions, while helping the Blues secure a top-four finish in the Premier League and lifting the Europa Conference League title.
Caicedo is no stranger to playing against Flamengo, having previously played against them during his time at Independiente del Valle, in which he scored the first goal in their 5-0 win in the CONMEBOL Libertadores.
“Winning the Conference League was very good. Our confidence is higher than before because we lifted a trophy, but that’s in the past,” said Caicedo.
“We have another trophy ahead, and we’ll give our best because we want to win it. It would be very special for the whole team and the fans, so that’s what we want.”
Chelsea vs Flamengo has been scheduled to kick-off at 8pm.
