Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa admits that losing the CAF Champions League final was ‘very painful’ and heartbreaking’.

The Brazilians fell short at the final hurdle of the CAF Champions League when they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Pyramid FC in the two-legged final two weeks ago.

Although Sundowns were not able to secure their second star, they are busy preparing for their upcoming participation in the FIFA Club World Cup

Miguel Cardoso’s outfit have been drawn in Group F alongside the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Fluminense and Ulsan.

Sundowns’ first group stage game will take place when they face Ulsan at the Inter & Co Stadium on Wednesday, June 18.

“It’s heartbreaking, season in, season out, we come to a close and this time around we were very close and we still couldn’t lift the trophy,” Lebusa said.

“It’s very painful, very hard to take and ja I don’t have words for it, it’s just painful.

“The biggest lesson would be to play a clean game at home, make sure you keep your opponents far away from your box and also take your chances because I feel like we got so many chances but we didn’t take them.”
