Chelsea booked their place in the Club World Cup quarter-final after claiming a 4-1 victory over Benfica at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Reece James opened the scoring for the Blues in the 64th minute with a stunning free-kick to hand his side a 1-0 lead.

After play was suspended for over two hours due to bad weather, the match restarted with Benfica being awarded a penalty in stoppage-time. Ángel Di María stepped up to slot the ball home from the spot-kick sending the match into extra-time.

Gianluca Prestianni received his marching orders early in extra-time before goals from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all found the back of the net to hand Chelsea a comfortable win.

The win sees Chelsea book their place in the quarter-final, where they will take on Palmeiras at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 5.
