France could be without Laurent Koscielny at the World Cup in Russia after Arsene Wenger said he suffered an Achilles heel rupture in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid.

The defender went down innocuously after passing the ball under no challenge. It was clear from the players reactions on the field that the injury was a bad one. The defender had to be stretchered off and after the game Wenger revealed the severity of the injury.

‘It’s not good, it looks like an Achilles rupture. Maybe we will have good news but the first signs are not very good.’
